In collaboration with the District Bar Association Sukkur, the Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners (CWP) organized a One-Day Capacity Building Workshop on “Legal Drafting and Improved Access to Justice for Marginalized Communities” at Decent Guest House, Sukkur on 18th September 2021

The workshop brought together members of the District Bar Association Sukkur and lawyers associated with CWP. The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of lawyers practicing in Sukkur, Larkana, and Khairpur, regions where opportunities for continuous professional learning are often limited.

The session was enriched by the participation and facilitation of several senior legal professionals, including:

  • Mr. Jamshaid Faiz, Advocate Supreme Court
  • Mr. Qurban Ali Malano, Advocate Supreme Court & Member, Sindh Bar Council
  • Mr. Sarfaraz Ahmed Akhund, Advocate Supreme Court & President, Sindh High Court Bar Association
  • Mr. Ali Gul Abbasi, Advocate High Court & General Secretary, Sindh High Court Bar Association
  • Ms. Rizwana Memon, Advocate Sindh High Court & Senior Member of the Bar
  • Mr. Aamir Hussain Qureshi, Advocate Sindh High Court & Member of the Bar

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sundar Chachar, Secretary of the Sukkur Bar Association, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, noting that “there was an utmost need for sessions like this in Sukkur, and CWP-LAO has successfully fulfilled that gap.”

He further highlighted that capacity building of all stakeholders—including the judiciary, prison officials, advocates, and prisoners—is essential for strengthening legal practices and fostering an environment where access to justice is available to all.

Through this and similar initiatives, CWP-LAO continues its mission to promote professional excellence within the legal community and advance equitable access to justice across Sindh.
