Football Classes
In line with Prison Rule [R.865 (a), (b), (c)], the Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners (CWP) is committed to improving the welfare, education, health, rehabilitation, and livelihood of juvenile prisoners, women prisoners, and children living with their mothers in prisons across Sindh. These efforts aim to create an environment that supports personal development, emotional well-being, and successful reintegration into society.
As part of its rehabilitation initiatives, CWP, in partnership with the Karachi United Football Club (KU), organizes football training camps for juvenile offenders in Karachi. Conducted twice a week, these sessions provide a positive outlet for energy, encourage teamwork, discipline, and leadership, and build essential life skills such as sportsmanship and perseverance. Upon release, trained juveniles are connected to Karachi United’s regular training camps at its Centers of Excellence across the city, ensuring continued growth and engagement beyond prison walls.
Since 2017, a total of 675 young offenders have been enrolled in these football training programs, demonstrating the success of this partnership in using sports as a tool for rehabilitation and social reintegration.
